Charging onto the water (EVs and Beyond)

New Zealand electric ferries, ships, and boats are making huge waves in the marine industry. First out is Wellington’s East by West Ferries’ Ika Rere, launched on December 16 and scheduled to enter service in the New Year.

In sea trials it has performed as predicted, even exceeding performance in some areas, East by West reports.

The high-speed passenger ferry was put in the water in Wellington earlier this year, and is the first in the southern hemisphere.
